Perempuan Mempunyai Kemampuan

Jakarta, Kompas - Banyak perempuan di Indonesia memiliki kemampuan dan bila direkrut partai politik bisa memberikan dampak positif. Sayangnya, kebanyakan perempuan itu merasa rendah diri dan tidak siap. Ini mengakibatkan timpangnya peran perempuan dan pria dalam panggung politik. Karena itu, parpol harus mengenali kualitas kader perempuannya dengan membangun kemampuan dan menanamkan kepercayadirian.

Demikian dinyatakan Direktur International Republican Institute (IRI) untuk Indonesia Johanna Kao, Kamis (9/8) di Jakarta. Banyak perempuan politisi Indonesia yang siap dalam Pemilu 2009.

"Calon dari perempuan akan semakin banyak dan lebih banyak pilihan untuk parpol. Karena itu, saya berharap parpol melihat perempuan ini secara serius sebagai kandidat yang berkualitas, " kata Johanna. Apalagi, perempuan politisi Indonesia berkarakter cerdas, besar hati, tegar, dan memiliki pemikiran yang fleksibel.

Pada Pemilu 2009, Johanna menilai pemilih tidak begitu memerhatikan apakah calonnya perempuan atau laki-laki. Perhatian mereka terpusat pada apakah kinerja kandidat baik dan apakah kandidat merepresentasikan kepentingan serta aspirasinya.

Peraih penghargaan International Women of Courage 2007, Siti Musdah Mulia, menyatakan, masih banyak kelompok perempuan yang buta politik serta belum memahami hak politik dan sipil sebagai warga negara. Kendala terberat meningkatkan partisipasi perempuan dalam politik bukan terletak pada struktur dan aturan, melainkan pada budaya.

Siti menilai, selama ini perempuan dibatasi untuk beraktivitas di ruang publik, dibutakan, dan ditutup aksesnya. Sebab itu, perlu rekonstruksi budaya. (**

Let's first review what happened on Friday.

On Friday we had Canadian CPI coming out. I was focuses on the headline number which did not deviate at all. However, the core number deviated by 0.5. USD/CAD spiked down by 20 pips or so and then the price went the other way. I know some people who traded either the headline or the core number with 0.5 for a quick scalp and fast profit taking, and they did well taking a few pips. I did not enter a trade myself because I was not that confident with the core number. Congratulations if you made some money. No trade for me.

Let's talk about Monday.

Monday is very simple, one very good report coming out and that's it.

1. Monday, June 23rd, 2008 (3:30 a.m. New York Time) GERMANY, EURO ZONE
At 3:30 a.m. we will have German Manufacturing PMI. THIS IS FOR SCALPING ONLY with the SNW service. Recently, this made pretty nice moves and because a lot of people don't trade it and EUR/USD has a lot of liquidity, the spread might be very small. If I can grab 10 to 15 pips, why not? For scalping purposes with a SMALL spread (no more than 5 pips), I would use 0.5 trigger with 10 pips mental profit target. For mental 15 to 20 pips take profit, I would like to see 0.8 deviation. Because this would be scalping, be prepared to exit quickly at BE or even small loss. Don't go under the water with such small reports. The German Manufacturing PMI is expected to come out at 53.2. If it comes out at 53.7 or higher, I would go long (buy) on EUR/USD with mental TP of 10 pips. If it comes out at 52.7 or less, I would go short on EUR/USD with mental TP of 10 pips as well. This might not work with such small deviation but I hardly can imagine losing big money if the spread is small enough. Again, 0.8 trigger would be more safe, and 1.0 should actually work pretty well. Keep also in mind that 30 minutes later we will have next German report so the market might be waiting for the next number. For that reason I will be taking profit or loss within first 1 minute or so, or at least I will close 1/2 within the first minute. Again, this is just scalping, and I invite only those who like scalping and taking more risk, and know how to react fast and without emotions.

2. Monday, June 23rd, 2008 (4:00 a.m. New York Time) GERMANY, EURO ZONE
At 4:00 a.m. we will have German IFO Business Climate. 1.0 deviation should move EUR/USD by even by 50 pips. It is expected to come out at 102.5. If it comes out at 103.5, I would go long (buy) on EUR/USD and expect 50 pips move in next 30 minutes or so. If it comes out at 101.5 or less, I would go short on EUR/USD and expect 50 pips move as well. Does it mean I need to take 50 pips? No, I will be more than happy to take 30 pips if the market will let me do that, and probably I will be out within a minute or two at max. 20 pips profit is fine with me as well so I will get what the spike gives and I will go to bed. But I would also try to trade it with smaller deviation on a smaller position as a scalp. For a mental 10 to 15 pips scalp if the spread is under 7 pips, I would try to trade 0.7 deviation so if it comes out at 103.2 or better, that would be a QUICK buy scalp on EUR/USD, and if it comes out at 101.8 or less, that would be a QUICK sell scalp on EUR/USD. By a quick scalp, I mean *quick*, and I am ready to close at BE or small loss if it is necessary. This also assumes you trust your broker that you will be filled at a good price, and you will be able to close your position anytime you wish.





Law of Compensation

IDIOTS ON THE COMPUTER

Jika Anda merasa gaptek soal komputer, jangan kuatir. Bukan Anda saja
yang merasa demikian. Jim Cartlon, seorang jurnalis Wall Street Journal,
baru-baru ini mengumpulkan keluhan dari para konsumen komputer Amerika.
Dan ternyata keluhan mereka jauh lebih "idiot" daripada yang kita kira.
Berikut petikan keluhan2 konsumen yang super konyol & "super moron" itu
:

1. Compaq pernah mempertimbangkan untuk mengubah perintah "Press ANY
Key" menjadi "Press ENTER Key" dikarenakan banyaknya telefon yang
menanyakan letak tombol "ANY" di keyboard.

2. AST Technical Support menerima laporan konsumen karena kesulitan
menggunakan mouse. Saat Techinal Support berkunjung, mereka menemukan
mouse tersebut tidak bisa digunakan... karena masih terbungkus rapi di
dalam plastiknya. Penggunanya (seorang wanita) punya phobia (ketakutan)
pada mouse (tikus) sehingga tidak berani mengeluarkannya dari dalam
plastik.

3. Di tahun 1980-an, ketika disket masih berukuran besar, Teknisi Compaq
pernah menerima keluhan seorang konsumen yang disketnya tidak terbaca
oleh drive-disk komputer. Setelah diselidiki, ternyata konsumen itu
sebelumnya memasukkan disket ke dalam mesin tik dan mengetikkan label
yang tertempel di disket itu.

4. Sebuah keluhan lain dari konsumen AST yang mengatakan disket mereka
terkena virus yang sulit dibersihkan. Petugas AST meminta orang itu
mengirimkan kopi disket yang terinfeksi itu untuk dipelajari. Beberapa
hari kemudian, petugas AST menerima foto kopi disket dari konsumen
tersebut.

5. Seorang konsumen DELL mengeluhkan kalau dia tidak dapat mengirimkan
fax via komputer. Setelah diarahkan selama 40 menit lewat telepon,
petugas DELL menemukan kalau konsumen itu mencoba mengefax via komputer
dengan cara menempelkan kertas yang akan di fax di depan monitor.

6. Seorang konsumen DELL lain mengeluh karena keyboard yang digunakannya
sudah tidak bisa berfungsi sejak dibersihkan. Ketika ditanya caranya
membersihkan keyboard, dia menjelaskan, "Saya mencuci dan menggosok
semua bagian keyboard dengan sabun, lalu membilasnya dengan air, dan
menjemurnya. "

7. Seorang konsumen DELL marah besar karena tidak bisa menyalakan
komputer yang baru dibelinya. "Semua sudah terpasang dengan baik. Tapi
setiap kali saya tekan pedal kaki , tidak terjadi apa-apa." Setelah
diselidiki ternyata "pedal kaki" yang dimaksud orang itu adalah : mouse.


8. Seorang lagi konsumen DELL marah besar karena komputer barunya tidak
nyala. Dia menjelaskan semua sudah terpasang dengan benar, dan ketika
dia menunggu selama 20 menit, tidak terjadi apa-apa pada komputernya.
Ketika teknisi DELL menanyakan apakah "power switch" sudah dinyalakan,
dia balik bertanya, "Power switch apa?"

9. Berikut adalah tanya-jawab antara petugas Novell NetWire dengan
seorang konsumen :

Penelepon : Hallo, dengan Tech Support?

Novell : Ya, bisa dibantu?

Penelepon : Tatakan gelas di PC saya patah. Apa mungkin saya bisa
menggantinya?

Novell : Tatakan gelas ? Apakah itu hadiah saat Anda membeli
komputer?

Penelepon : Tidak. Tatakan gelas ini sudah ada di komputer saya. Dan
ketika saya meletakkan gelas saya di atasnya, tatakan itu patah. Yang
saya ketahui, di bagian depan tatakan itu ada tulisan "CD-ROM, 16X".

(Saat itu juga, petugas Novell langsung mematikan telepon dan tertawa
terpingkal-pingkal. ..)

The Parable Of Brother Leo

An old legend tells of a French monastery that was well-known throughout Europe because of the extraordinary leadership of a man known only as Brother Leo.

Several monks began a pilgrimage to visit Brother Leo to learn from him. Almost immediately, the monks began to bicker as to who should do various chores. On the third day they met another monk who was also going to the monastery.

This monk never complained or shirked a duty. Whenever the others would fight over a chore, he would gracefully volunteer to do it himself. By the last day, the other monks were following his example, and everyone worked together smoothly.

When they reached the monastery and asked to see Brother Leo, the man who greeted them laughed. "But our brother is among you!" pointing to the fellow who had joined them late in the trip.

Today, many people seek leadership positions not so much for what they can do for others, but for what the position can do for them: status, connections, perks, or future advantages. As a result, they do service primarily as an investment, a way to build an impressive résumé.

The parable about Brother Leo teaches another model of leadership, where leaders are more preoccupied with serving than being followed, with giving than getting, with doing than demanding. It's leadership based on example, not command. It's called servant leadership.

Can you imagine how much better things would be if more politicians, educators, and business executives saw themselves as servant leaders?
