* When all else is lost, the future still remains.
* When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.
* The course of life is unpredictable… no one can write his autobiography in advance.
* For the majority of us, the past is regret, the future an experiment.
* Do not waste time thinking of a better future.
* The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.
* We know what we are, but know not what we may be.
* A fixed image of the future is in the worst sense a historical.
* We should all be concerned about the future because we will have to spend the rest of our lives there.
* Fear not for the future, weep not for the past.
* You can never plan the future by the past.
* Morning comes whether you set the alarm or not.
* Making all future fruits of all the pasts.
* You’ll see that, since our fate is ruled by chance, Each man, unknowing, great, Should frame life so that at some future hour Fact and his dreaming meet.
* And in today already walks tomorrow.
* The future is much like the present, only longer.
* I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.
* Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.
* That what will come, and must come, shall come well.
* It is heaven itself that points out a hereafter, and intimates eternity to man.
* Seize the day, and put the least possible trust in tomorrow.
* The past is of no importance. The present is of no importance. It is with the future that we have to deal. For the past is what man should not have been. The present is what man ought not to be. The future is what artists are.
* The present is big with the future.
* I never think of the future - it comes soon enough.
* Nothing can be reckoned good or bad to us in this life, any further than it indisposes us for the enjoyment of another.
* Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
* Real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present.
* The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.
* Learn the past, watch the present, and create the future
IN A LAND FAR AWAY...STANDS A STRUCTURE OF WHITE SATINEY MARBLE. A TRIBUTE BY ONE MAN, FOR HIS GREATEST LOVE! IT'S EXQUISITE DESIGN, IT'S ALLURING SHAPE IS UNSURPASSED IN IT'S BEAUTY. IT DAZZLES THE EYES, IN THE NOONDAY SUN, IT SHIMMERS IN SILVERY MOON LIGHT, ITS MAGIC, IS EVER UNFOLDING TO THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. ITS BEAUTY IS TIMELESS AND AGELESS,AS WAS INTENDED. THE SPARKLING "REFLECTION POOL" QUITES THE SPIRIT AND BY DAY, BIRDS FLY AND SING THROUGH SUNLIT AIR, BY NIGHT, STARS ADD THEIR MAJESTY TO THE WATERS. THIS MONUMENT TO LOVE CAPTURES ALL MINDS WHO BEHOLD IT, FOR LOVE SPEAKS FORTH FROM THIS PLACE AND SAYS:
OH MY LOVE, FOR I SO LOVE YOU, THAT I DESIRE THE WORLD TO KNOW
THAT THROUGH ALL TIME AND THROUGH ALL AGES LET IT BE SEEN,
THAT ONE MANS HEART WAS SO ENCHANTED BY HIS BELOVED, THAT
A WAY MUST BE SOUGHT TO EXPRESS THAT LOVE, OUT INTO THIS WORLD
LET THE WORLD SEE WHAT LOVE FEELS LIKE, TO KNOW THE RAPTURE
OF A BELOVED SUCH AS YOU. YOUR LOVE ADDS MEANING TO MY LIFE,
YOUR KISSES TAKE ME TO THE STARS, YOUR LIPS ARE AS HONEY,
YOUR ARMS PERFUMED WITH JASMINE, HOLD ME CLOSE AS NIGHT FALLS,
AND NIGHTINGALES SING THEIR LOVELY SONG TO US, AS WE DELIGHT
IN EACH OTHERS EMBRACE AND SHARE OUR LOVE, ONE WITH THE OTHER,
GIVING PLEASURES ALMOST TOO RAPTUROUS TO ENDURE.
YOUR FINGERS TRACE AN INTRICATE MOSAIC OVER MY FACE, MY CHEST,MY
STOMACH, CAUSING TREMORS TO RIPPLE THRU MY BODY. YOU SMILE THAT SLY
SMILE, KNOWING, WHAT THRILLS YOU BRING TO ME, MY DEAREST. YOUR
LIPS DRAW CLOSE, CLOSER, CLOSER...YOU ENVELOPE MY BEING WITH
EXQUISTE PLEASURE. IN THE END, I AM SHAKEN, MY LEGS CAN NOT
MOVE, AND I LIE THERE, ALMOST IN A FAINT OF TORTUROUS DELIGHT.
YOU GLIDE IN GRACEFUL MOVEMENTS ACROSS THE MARBLED FLOOR TO BRING ME
POMEGRANATES DRIPPING WITH RED ELIXIR, TO COOL MY BURNING LIPS.
WAS THERE EVER SUCH A ONE AS YOU, WHOSE ONLY DELIGHT, WAS TO GIVE
ME JOY? ALL MEN WOULD ENVY ME, IF THEY BUT KNEW THE LOVE YOU BRING
TO MY HEART. MY DAYS ARE FILLED WITH MEMORIES OF YOUR FACE, SMILING
WITH ANTICIPATION UPON MY RETURN TO YOUR SIDE AT DAYS END. WITH YOU,
MY DEAREST, I CAN FORGET THE DAYS STRIFE AND LAY MY HEAD UPON YOUR
BREAST AND FEEL NOTHING BUT LOVE. FOR I HEAR YOUR HEART BEAT AND IT
SPEAKS MY NAME! MY HEART JUMPS TO HEAR FLASHES OF YOUR VOICE AND
OUR SOULS ARE LOCKED INTO ONE BEING, AS IF MELTED TOGETHER BY THE BURNING
HEAT OF THE SUN..TWO SOULS, BECOMING ONE.
YOU CALL IT DESTINY, KISMET AND FATE, BUT ALL I KNOW, SWEET LOVE, WHEN I AM
WITH YOU... I AM AT "HEAVEN'S GATE" I MUST MAKE FOR YOU A TRIBUTE,
TO SHOW FORTH TO THIS WORLD, MY DEEP LOVE AND DEVOTION TO YOU, AS BEFITTING
THE WONDEROUS LOVE, I HAVE IN MY HEART FOR YOU. IT IS MY DEEPEST DESIRE
TO DO SO, FOR THEN..WHAT SHALL BE SEEN BY ALL WHO COME TO THIS SITE, IS
MY LOVE, SHINEING FORTH AND THE MYSTERY.... THAT IS YOU.
ARISE SWEET LOVE, LET US WATCH THE MOON, AND WHISPER WORDS OF LOVE TO ONE
ANOTHER AND SEAL OUR LOVE WITH A VOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER FOREVER AND ALWAYS,
FOR WHAT IS LIFE, IF THERE IS NO LOVE AND WHAT SHALL A PERSON GAIN IN THIS
LIFE, IF THEY NEVER QUENCH THE DEEP INNER LONGING THAT ONLY LOVE CAN BRING.
LET US DRINK DEEPLY MY LOVE, FOR LOVE IS ALL THERE IS. NOW AND ALWAYS.
* * * * * * * * * * *
LET THOSE WHO HAVE KNOW A GREAT LOVE....FEEL THIS TRUTH AND THOSE WHO HAVE NOT,
PRAY FOR ITS REVELATION TO YOU...FOR LOVE IS ALL THAT MAKES LIFE WORTH !!

The Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century is a compilation of the 20th century's most influential politicians, artists, innovators, scientists, and cultural icons, published in Time magazine in 1999.
The idea for such a list started on February 1, 1998, with a debate at a symposium at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The panel participants were news anchor Dan Rather, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, then-political science professor Condoleezza Rice, neoconservative publisher Irving Kristol, and Time managing editor Walter Isaacson.
The final list was published on June 14, 1999, in a special issue titled "TIME 100: Heroes & Icons of the 20th Century".
In a separate issue on December 31, 1999, Time recognized Albert Einstein as the Person of the Century.

[edit] Person of the century
Of the 100 names chosen, Albert Einstein was crowned the person of the century, on the grounds that he was the preeminent scientist in a century dominated by science. The editors of TIME believed the 20th Century "will be remembered foremost for its science and technology", and Einstein "serves as a symbol of all the scientists—such as Heisenberg, Bohr, Richard Feynman, and Stephen Hawking...who built upon his work."[1]
The cover of the magazine featured the famous image of Einstein taken in 1947 by American portrait photographer Philippe Halsman. It was during this photo session that Einstein recounted to Halsman his despair that his special theory of relativity and his letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt had led the United States to create the atomic bomb. It was at this point of immense sadness for Einstein that Halsman took the picture.[2]
Gates was considered influential for his role in the computer revolution, and then later recognized for his philanthropic influence. Pope John Paul II was recognized in part for his role in ending communism. Nelson Mandela was recognized for his role in ending apartheid, and as a symbol of forgiveness. Winfrey was recognized for creating a more intimate confessional form of media communication,[3] unleashing confession culture, and popularizing and revolutionizing[4][3][5] the tabloid talk show genre pioneered by Phil Donahue, which a Yale study claimed broke 20th century taboos and allowed gays, transsexuals, and transgender people to enter the mainstream.[6] She was also considered influential as an inspirational role model and for the impact of her book club in making literature accessible to the masses.
[edit] Criticisms
The list has been criticized for being too U.S.-centric. Time magazine representative Bruce Handy responded to the criticism this way:
Hey--it's the American century. Clearly, the Europeans were the great innovators in terms of high modernism. But when it comes to popular culture this century has been all American. American popular culture is really the arts story of the century's second half. The music the world listens to, the movies the world watches, the junk food the world eats are all American--or largely American influenced.[7]
The list has also been criticized for not including Elvis Presley, a decision Handy defended in the following way:
one of the most important, innovative things about rock is the whole notion of songwriters singing their own works, of the immediacy of expression. Since Elvis didn't write his own material, unlike the Beatles or Bob Dylan or Robert Johnson, who's also someone who could have been included, maybe that cut against him [Elvis]… I think the Beatles pushed the envelope a lot further. Elvis' most original recordings were his first. The Beatles started out as imitators, then continued to grow throughout their years together.[7]
Handy was also asked to defend Time's decision to include Bart Simpson among the 100 most influential people of the 20th century, and he did so as follows:
I don't see how you can look at this century and not include cartoons. They're one of our great contributions, along with jazz and film. (I know, I know. The movies were a 19th-century invention. But we 20th century folks really put them to good use.)… To some extent, too, we wanted people who also represented important 20th century trends or developments. That would help account for the Barts and Oprahs[7]...What Bart, or really the Simpsons, have done is merge social satire with popular animation in a way that hasn't really been done before.[7]
The list also received criticism for its inclusion of Lucky Luciano who was chosen in part because "he modernized the Mafia, shaping it into a smoothly run national crime syndicate focused on the bottom line". New York mayor Rudy Giuliani accused Time of "romanticizing" gangsters and stated: "The idea that he civilized the Mafia is absurd. He murdered in order to get the position that he had, and then he authorized hundreds and hundreds of murders." The selection was called an "outrage" by Philip Cannistraro, a Queens College professor of Italian-American studies and Thomas Vitale, the New York State vice president of Fieri, an Italian-American charitable organization, criticized Time for "perpetuating myths" about Italian-Americans. However Time business editor Bill Saporito defended the selection by calling Luciano as "kind of an evil genius" who had a deep impact on the underground economy. "We're not out there to heap glory on these people," he explained. "We're out to say these are people who influenced our lives." Saporito further noted that "every piece of merchandise that came out of the Garment District had a little extra cost in it because of organized crime."[8]

Now many of my friend is Pakistan argue why Jinnah is not in this list.
Well the reason for this simply put is the difference between the stature of Gandhi and Jinnah as seen by the west.
Time magazine recently did included Jinnah name in 60 most influential Asians of 20th century.
The difference between Jinnah and Mikhail Gorbachev, Reagan, Roosevelt, and POP JAUNPAUL II, Gandhi is just one.
What Jinnah did was a great achievement, achievement that only a very few people had achieved but it was struggle that benefited a small community in the overall world population, so rest of the world had no benefit of it. Like a person in Europe had no concern over it.
Now look at what these other persons I mentioned did.
· Mikhail Gorbachev was last premier of Combined Soviet Union, It was he who signed the papers giving autonomy to the soviet states and eventually it was his decisions that became the reasons for eventual collapse of the Soviet Union. After its collapse dozen of new countries were formed. Almost a whole continent was affected.
· Monumental Speech and visit by Reagan in Germany was the one that shifted the balance against the USSR and eventually led to fall of Berlin wall. So he too as US president affected millions.
· Roosevelt was perhaps the greatest of all these men as it was all his decisions that mattered in WW2 and they affected almost every soul on the planet.
· POP JAUNPAUL II also helped the European nations in their struggle for independence from USSR and had a huge influence of world political scene as a whole.
· Gandhi was not fighting for Hindus only but for all Indians including Muslims that's what separates him from Jinnah.
So it is the scale of effectiveness that matters. That's why whenever a world ranking is done Jinnah is not mentioned.
Belanda Menuju Perampingan
Kuyt Menebar Harapan
Apakah Van Basten memindahkan sasaran tembak peluru terakhir?
Katanya, "Saya bahagia kembali menjadi bagian tim Belanda." (wesh)

(cw-4)
